Lifetime Sharp-Again Guarantee

If these aren't the sharpest knives your kitchen has ever had, send it back within a lifetime for a full refund — prepaid return label on us.

What makes it different?

Two things the $30 clones get wrong: an N52 magnet strong enough to hold the knife by itself (even inverted), and steel bearings that let the roller glide instead of drag. Plus real industrial diamond — the same abrasive professional services use.

Will it work on my knives?

Sharpens great — chef's, santoku, nakiri, paring, utility, boning and cleavers, in any steel, including hard Japanese blades (set the base to 15°).

Works with care — very narrow blades under ½ inch sit low on the magnet: hold the blade a touch higher and guide it with a light hand. They still sharpen, just with a little more attention.

Not for — serrated / bread knives and scissors (straight edges only). And it keeps a good edge sharp — it isn't a repair grinder for a deeply chipped or bent blade.

How do I use it?

Flip the magnetic base to 15° for thin Japanese-style knives (Global, Shun, Miyabi) or 20° for thicker Western knives (Wüsthof, Henckels, most starter sets). Not sure? 20° is the safe default for most kitchen sets. Snap the knife onto the base — it clicks and holds itself — then roll the sharpener along the edge ten times per side. Finish with five passes on the ceramic disc. About 60 seconds per knife, once a month.

What's in the box?

The walnut Roller with its diamond #400 + ceramic #1000 discs, the 15°/20° flip magnetic base, a quick-start card, and a gift-ready box. Everything you need — nothing to add.

Holds inverted

Why you can't get it wrong

It holds the knife, so you don't have to.

Every sharpening method fails for the same reason: human hands can't hold a perfect angle. Whetstones take years to master. Pull-through grinders tear the edge. Electric sharpeners eat your blade — and make you drag the edge toward your hand.

Honewood flips it: the knife snaps onto the magnetic base and never moves. Your hands stay on the roller, away from the edge. The angle is locked at exactly 15° or 20° — you physically can't do it wrong.

  • N52 magnet — holds the knife inverted

How does it work?

Grind. Polish. Done.

A professional's two-step ritual, minus the professional.

Snap.

Onto the magnetic base

Snap the knife onto the magnetic base. It clicks and holds itself at exactly 15° or 20° — no pulse, no guesswork.

Roll.

Grind, then polish

Ten passes on the #400 industrial diamond disc rebuilds the edge — the same abrasive professional services use, removing the minimum steel. Then five passes on the #1000 ceramic disc polish it mirror-sharp.

Cut.

Wipe & cut like it's new

Wipe the blade and cut like the edge is new. Once a month, ten seconds a side — the entire maintenance plan for every knife you own, for decades. Nothing to refill, no subscription.

The honest comparison

Why Honewood?

We tore down the $30 clones to find where they cut corners. Here's what actually separates them.

Honewood
Others
Magnet holds the knife by itself
N52 neodymium — holds the blade even inverted
Weak magnet — the knife slides and detaches
Real industrial diamond
#400 diamond — the abrasive the pros use
Sometimes — coated or cheap grit that wears out
Bearings that actually spin
Steel bearings — one push and it keeps rolling
Seizes and drags on every pass
Preserves your blade
Removes only the minimum steel
Grinds the edge away

Built from better parts

Industrial diamond, #400

The hardest material on earth, bonded to steel. Sharpens any blade and lasts decades of home use — no refills, ever.

The grip

N52 neodymium magnet

Strong enough to hold your chef's knife upside down. The knife stays put; your hands stay away from the edge. Clones use magnets half this strength.

You asked

Questions, answered.

Will it damage expensive knives?

The opposite. The locked angle means you can't roll the wrong bevel, and diamond removes far less steel than electric sharpeners or grinding wheels. Your knives last longer, not shorter.

Is it safe on my good Japanese knives?

Yes. The magnet holds the blade at a fixed angle and the disc only touches the edge bevel — far gentler than a pull-through or electric grinder. Set the base to 15° for Japanese steel. (Very acute factory edges under 15° will be brought to a durable 15°, not left at the original micro-bevel.)

Can I over-sharpen or thin my blade?

No. A quick monthly pass only refreshes the existing edge — it doesn't grind steel away the way electric sharpeners do. The locked angle means every pass lands in the same place, so you're maintaining the edge, not eating the blade.

Do I need any experience?

None — that's the entire point. The base sets the angle for you. If you can roll a rolling pin, you'll get your best-ever edge on the first try.

My knife is taller than the roller — will it still work?

Yes. Rest the magnetic base on the edge of a cutting board so the blade hangs just over the side, or let the spine sit slightly proud of the base. Tall chef's and cleaver blades sharpen fine this way.

What knives does it NOT work on?

Serrated blades and scissors. Very narrow blades (under 0.5") sit lower on the magnet — they still sharpen, with a little more care.

How often do I need to use it?

About once a month for daily-use knives — roughly 60 seconds per knife. Quick touch-ups take ten seconds.

How long do the discs last?

250–350 full sharpenings. At a typical once-a-month home routine that's well over a decade of use — and the whole tool is covered by the lifetime guarantee.

Does it work for left-handed cooks?

Yes — the roller has no handedness. Snap the knife on, roll it back and forth, done. It works exactly the same in either hand.

How do I clean and care for it?

Wipe the walnut body with a dry or barely-damp cloth and let it air dry. Don't put it in the dishwasher — solid walnut and the diamond bond don't like the heat or the soak. A drop of food-safe mineral oil on the wood a couple of times a year keeps it looking new for decades. Tip: sharpen over a paper towel and the fine metal filings wipe straight up.

How does the money-back guarantee work?
